When it’s all said and done, It’s going to be incredibly insane reading every single milestone posts from start to finish. 10,000 views, 20,000 views, 30,000 views, 40,000 views, 50,000 views, 60,000 views, 70,000 views, 80,0000 views, 90,000 views, 100,000 views, 200,000 views, 250,000 views, 300,000 views, 400,000 views, 500,000 views, 600,000 views, 700,000 views, 750,000 views and most recently, 800,000 views.
Every time I’ve written these types of posts, it’s always crazy to me. I guess that’s because I really didn’t see this becoming this big, but look at where we are right now. 900,000 views in 980 days. There’s only one milestone left.
If you would have told me we would be at this point only two years in, I’d be like why you lying? But here we are. 900,000 views in 980 days.
From hitting 10,000 views and thinking that was like winning the lottery to somehow getting to 100,000 views and realizing anything was possible to blinking and being at 750,000 views. It’s been a remarkable run. Through getting media passes; Canadian Music Week, TURF, Manifesto and basically NXNE, it’s been insane. Seeing my website get that type of recognition stunned me and made me realize how real this was.
I really turned nothing into something by myself. Crazy, because your boy really didn’t know what he was doing with his journalistic life before this website existed. I was seriously in shambles and honestly, It’s not to say things are perfect right now, but I at least know what I’m doing.
And now look at your boy now, I’m currently a contributor for the website “THE 405.” A UK music website and honestly, it’s the greatest feeling in the world seeing my think pieces being published. So far I’ve been published three times, “The Future Of Rap Is A Genre Without A Definitive” and “How The Weeknd Brought His Tumblr Dreams To Life” and finally, “Revisited: How Lorde’s Debut Album Challenged Pop Music At The Time.”
Additionally, I’m currently interning at VIBE 105. My journalism career is actually looking like a journalism career and it’s all because of this blog. And it’s all because of you. Now every time I’ve done these types of posts, I’ve always finished the piece with alright, on to the next one, next stop__________ views, but this time is different. It’s different because the next stop is 1 MILLION VIEWS. Like, ONE MILLION VIEWS! I can literally say, eventually, that my website has been clicked on that many times. And I know, 900,000 views is a lot of traffic in itself, honestly, I’ve generated a lot of traffic by myself, but there’s something about one million.
It’s so definitive. That’s why it’s the last milestone. That’s why it’s where the journey truly ends and it’s not to say I’m going to stop blogging after that, I’m just saying, it’s the end of the milestone posts. From 10,000 views to 1 million views, thats’ a true journey and it’s something I hope people will read, each milestone and realize that anything is possible. You just have to have a goal in mind and keep hitting it.
And thank god, I’ve been blessed enough to get this far. Call it hard work, call it an obsession, call it luck, It doesn’t matter to me. I just know that this website saved my life. I’ve known all my life that I’m good at writing, but I’ve had nothing to ever show for it. So the fact that I can finally tell myself, that what I believed in my heart to be true, that’s all that matters. This website solidified that for me.
