My birthday is in 9 days. I’m still 20. Life is way too unpredictable. My website officially has over 500,000 views. And another way of saying that is, my site officially has over a half a million views. There’s something magical about turning a self fulfilling prophecy into something that actually happens, but that’s not to say, I don’t doubt myself though.
I wrote this on my iPhone notes on December 6.
I did generate 400,000 views in December, but I thought, I would generate 500,000 views by May. Then something major changed in January. It’s something that really shocked me and honestly, was an incredible feeling and it changed my views estimation.
A$AP Rocky retweeted one of my posts.
This was insane. And honestly, it’s still insane. A$AP Rocky is the first rapper I ever saw live. Way back in 2012, he was the first rapper I ever saw. This was also the first time I ever saw Drake because Drake came out as a special guest, but because of this, I knew it would erase my May estimation. 500,000 views was now going to happen in March. I was going to hit 500,000 views by March, but I still doubted it.
I needed to keep up with the pace I was on to get 500,000 views my March. Deep down I knew I could this, but still, who knows. That’s why I love self fulfilling prophecy’s. You essentially tell yourself something is going to happen, even if it’s a delusion, you work incredible hard and then, it happens. Its crazy, its borderline nonsense, but it works. Most of the time that is.
Then again something else changed the direction of my views. Drake dropped “Summer Sixteen.” And this changed everything and led me to hitting 500,000 views. I generated 39,000 views in 1 day and nearly 50,000 views in 1 week. All because of A$AP Rocky’s retweet for my posts and Drake dropping “Summer Sixteen.” But don’t get it twisted. I wrote the posts that made all of this happen.
Without the work I put it in, none of this happens. And to make an even bigger point, this website wouldn’t be as successful if I wasn’t this obsessed with it. And as amazing as it is that I hit 500,000 views or how A$AP Rocky tweeted me or how I’ve managed to do this in such little time, these things aren’t the heart of the posts.
The heart of this posts is that, everything I’m saying, in my tweets or in my iPhone notes, just backs up the whole point of my website and that fact is that I believe in myself. Even if I doubt myself, even if sometimes, I don’t think things will work out, I still hope for the best and keep working hard. Because if you keep working hard enough, A$AP Rocky might retweet you one of these days.
