Most people don’t really think. Most people focus on materialistic things, trying to impress people and trying to look cool. All of these things won’t make you happy. Sure, there’s short term happiness in buying something, but it will fade. It always fades and then you buy more and more and more. Consumerism is an addiction. The feeling of getting a like on your Instagram post is a feeling you repeatedly want.

Why? Because of the short happiness it brings. Love on the other hand, well, you can’t buy love. Look at all the wealthy celebrities, how many of their marriages actually last? How many artist rap or sing about fear of commitment. They have the money and even they know, it isn’t that simple. You can’t buy anyones love. It can be an attractive quality, but not a real everlasting one.

In the society we live in, we are controlled by everything around us. Think about school for an example; We go to school to get an education to get us a job to get us money. That is basically the essence of it all. It all leads to money. If you have a lot of money, you’re free from that. Love on the other hand, is the hardest thing.

Love isn’t something you can hold in your hand, like money. Love is just a word that humans made to explain a feeling, that can’t be explained. Here is a cheesy example of what love is from the movie A Walk To Remember. “Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.” Finding another person who loves you for you and you love them for them, will bring you long-term happiness.

You should though, love yourself first. Loving yourself is the most important thing you can do for yourself. The media will tell you to buy into the consumerism culture and for the most part, you sometimes have to indulge. Regardless, you have to love yourself.

Money buys you freedom and love will bring you true happiness. Money won’t last forever and love won’t last forever, so you really have to love yourself first.

MY MOTTO IS: IF YOU WANNA WIN THE LOTTERY, YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE MONEY TO BUY A TICKET!
