Another milestone reached. Earlier then I ever thought. Check out the post below
When I was about to hit 10,000 views, I told myself because I hit 10k views in a certain amount of days, i would average it out and guess when I would hit other millstones.
This is what I told myself
10,000 views = 37 days
20,000 views = 74 days
30,000 views = 111 days
40,000 views = 148 days
50,000 views = 185 days
This is what really happened
10,000 views = 34 days
20,000 views = 60 days
30,000 views = 78 days
40,000 views = 86 days
50,000 views = 104 days
I thought I was going to hit 50,000 views in 2015. So, right now i’m still in shock. I hit all these milestones faster than I honestly thought. Now, here is the story of the day I created this blog.
It was July 25, around 5 A.M. I was talking to my friend on Facebook (you know who you are) and for some reason, I told myself I’m going to create a blog. Now because Brazil lost 7-1 to Germany, I wanted to write how I felt somewhere. Everybody around me was making fun of Brazil and calling them horrible, so I had to explain. People from Brazil told me they appreciated the post after I tweeted it out and that still means the world to me. It was my 3rd post. My first post was explaining my blog, my second one was music.
I never cared about the views or anything like that, for a couple of hours, yes, a couple of hours, it was a nice simple blog. When I tweeted out my Brazil post, someone who has 50k followers on Twitter retweeted it. I had been following him on Twitter throughout the World Cup. Once that happened, all these countries came out of nowhere, my views starting skyrocketing and just like that, It was something I never planned. I wanted to carry on the momentum, but before you knew it, It was august and it become a job. An incredible and fun job.
I now average 300-500 views a day, sometimes even more. I rarely post more than 4 times a day, but I still get a lot of views. I get a lot of views, even when I don’t post. Considering I do this by myself, that’s pretty incredible because many other websites have a team full of people. Back to which, I’ve networked/talked with so many different people. People from well known companies, CEO’s, editor-in-chiefs and other magazine writers, newspaper writers. I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing incredible people. All of these things, I wasn’t doing 104 days ago. I guess Brazil had to lose 7-1 for this all to happen. Now because I’m halfway towards 100k views, which is my biggest milestone, I will show the countries.
Its kind of sad to think, the reason why my blog got a lot of views from the start was because Brazil lost 7-1 to Germany. If Brazil had won the World Cup, I don’t think this website would exist. Kind of like the same thing with my high school post, if I never tried joining that club again, my life would be different. Back to which, It took me 2 hours to finish that post.
I just again want to personally thank everyone who reads my stuff. I love what i’m doing, but I love it even more when people connect with it. I just find it so crazy that people all around the world are finding my website. It’s truly an incredible feeling that me having a website from Toronto is being read across over 150 countries.
Just crazy to think that I’ve done this all alone and it’s only been 104 days. I never take myself seriously and if you think I haven’t been humble about this all, you don’t know me.
Oh, and this is my 200 posts.
