Drake has been saying ; ‘the 6’ lately and people have started to become a bit confused. Though, Drake has tweeted about what it means, people still continue to search about the meaning. The 6 comes from Toronto’s area code; 416. That is where the 6 comes from.
Though, Drake has been saying this for some time. A rapper from Toronto, started the 6 movement before Drake. That rapper is Jimmy Johnson. He is an affiliate of OVO and is apart of the Prime movement. You should check out his music. 
Here is Drake’s tweet for those select few who didn’t see it “My album title is VIEWS FROM THE 6. The 6 is Toronto”
Hopefully, this clears everything up and when Drake say’s ‘the 6’ now you fully understand that he is always referring to Toronto. Fun Fact : On March 6, 1834, York was officially incorporated as Toronto. York turned into Toronto on the (6th) of March.

Also, and I’m not 100% sure but, Toronto was divided into 6 areas individually named. York, etobicoke, old Toronto, north York, east York, and Scarborough. I’m pretty sure that’s true.

The six to me is more then just a Toronto area code… I think that it is like a cult but I’m not quite sure of it. He is obsessed with the 6 and I think that it is a little weird.
