5 Artists you should check out : Any Genre Edition #2

It’s different this time around. Five new artist to check out. Hopefully you check them out because it will be worth it. Enjoy.

Autre Ne Veut

Album : Anxiety

Stand Out Tracks : Counting, Play By Play and Promises

Anxiety was ‘that’ album when it came out. Counting and Play by Play were on constant rotation and sometimes I go back and still listen to them. Arthur Ashin, the singer behind Autre Ne Veut has an amazing voice. Autre Ne Veut deserves to be checked out because it’s an amazing group with an amazing singer.

Ty Dolla $ign

EP : Beach House

Stand Out Tracks : Paranoid, Familiar, Or Nah

This EP came out a while ago and it still can be played. Ty Dolla $Ign has a really great sound and the production in his songs are on point. For just a seven track EP, this was an amazing project for Ty Dolla $ign to drop. If you haven’t already, check him out.

Album : Women

Stand Out Tracks : Open, The Fall, Major Minor Love, Verse

First things first, I thought this group was held down by a female singer. Turns out, it’s a dude singing. I know sometimes this happen but damn, didn’t expect that. This album helped me write an important essay in Grade 12. I, had this album stream playing the entire time and I wrote that essay in about an hour or two. Got a solid grade on it too. It’s just a peaceful album, held down with an amazing singer and the production is so simple but so perfect.

James Blake

Album : Overgrown

Stand Out Tracks : Overgrown, Retrograde, Digital Lion, Life Round Here

I know what you are thinking, why should James Blake be here? Shouldn’t people be already listening to him? Shockingly enough, the masses still don’t listen to him. James Blake is art. His music is art. His production skills are art. I don’t understand how people still don’t know who he is and don’t listen to him. If you do listen to him, good on you. If you don’t, check him out right this second.

Artist : The 1975

Album : The 1975

Stand Out Tracks : The City, M.O.N.E.Y, Chocolate

If you do listen to this band then good on you. If you checked this band out because of FIFA, well same here. ‘The City’ is on the FIFA 14 soundtrack. It is one of my favourite songs in the game. I love British music, I love indie music. Put them both together and it should be classic. The 1975 are from Manchester. Check them out, if you haven’t already.
