You are about to sleep after a long day of hard work or maybe after a long day of doing nothing. You close your eyes and start to fall asleep. Do you even realize you might not wake up to see the next day?

We think that when we go to sleep, we will see tomorrow. Young people in particular might have that thought because they think they are young and healthy. Young people think they are invincible and nothing bad can happen in life when your young. In life, it doesn’t matter, anything could happen. So again, do you even realize you might not wake up to see the next day? Think about all the people who you are mad at, think about all the things you still would like to do in your life. Now tell yourself, why aren’t you doing those things and why are you even mad at those people. Someone called you a bad name? Someone insulted you? Someone embarrassed you? Someone owes you money? In the grand scheme of things, are these even important?

We get angry at our friends and family and we think, well I’ll see them tomorrow and eventually everything will be sorted. This way of thinking isn’t good because even if you sleep and wake up the next day, what says that family member or friend wakes up as well? No matter the argument, be the bigger person and fix any situation because day by day anything could happen and you might be regretting something for the rest of your life.

Being angry at people happens, people treat you poorly and that’s the end of that. At the end of the day, even though it’s hard you just have to be the bigger person and fix it even if you did nothing wrong. As well, you will always meet people who don’t like you and that will never change. Things that can change, is your attitude in life. There are 24 hours in a day, are you doing what you want to do or are you just wasting away the minutes? The moment you realize that life is precious is the moment you start finally living it, because your life can be gone in a moment’s notice.

While you might be breathing, somebody somewhere in the world is breathing his or her last breath. Those who are breathing their last breath think to themselves that they wished they could have done other things before they died. When we get older and have children, they will be the product of us. If you drink a lot or do drugs, your kids will most likely do the same. Is that what you want your kids to be doing in their future? We can’t be blaming the generations to come when we are the ones who raise them and at some point things need to change. Michael Jackson said it best “No message could have been any clearer, If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change.”

The moment you change the way you live and see life as a gift is the moment you change for the better. It will not only benefit you, it will also benefit your future children if you have. I’m not saying don’t have fun but understand that if you go too far, your life can be gone. Losing your life isn’t the worst thing, in my opinion the worst thing, is you will also be losing the moment when you see your own baby in your arms, seeing your eyes or features in your baby if you want children in the future. When you take that drug or you take that gulp of alcohol, you are putting yourself at risk of losing the most important things ; your life and having a child. Have fun but don’t go to far because one more step and you might just fall of the cliff.
